Adoration is a devotion in which we worship God in the real presence of the Lord in the consecrated Eucharist. The spiritual benefits of this devotion are enormous. Regular Adoration deepens our faith and helps us to develop and enhance our relationship with the Lord.
To sign up for a regular hour of worship, obtain more information about this devotion, or volunteer to serve as a day captain, please contact Barbara Smothers at 301-897-8066.
In keeping with the pronouncements of Pope St. John Paul II and his successors, Popes Benedict and Francis, Holy Redeemer proclaims the Gospel of Christ and the New Evangelization that empowers us to go forth and reach out to those around us who may have drifted away from the Catholic faith as well as to be witnesses to the reality of God and our belief in the risen Christ to all those with whom we come in contact. These two fundamental principles are the rock foundation upon which we function as Catholics, emphasizing the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the intercession of His Most Blessed Mother and the saints who through the centuries since the foundation of the Church have borne witness to Christ, so often forfeiting their lives as martyrs. In this year of our Lord 2014, millions of Catholic believers throughout the world face oppression and violence because of their Catholic faith. Our prayers and life of faith bear witness daily to our recognition of ourselves as members of the community of Christ on earth, joined with all those who suffer persecution.
Following our Catholic Faith, Holy Redeemer provides regular religious education classes and sacramental preparation for children and adults. We also want our parish to have a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ by offering personal study and small discussion groups. Please take a look at our many service and community action activities presented herein. Our programs address the full gamut of needs in our community as well as providing spiritual life enhancement through ministries that assist in the liturgical life of our parish. Opportunities exist for young and old to participate.
